Settlement Counseling and Support

Services are available to help government and private sponsored refugees and recently arrived landed immigrants settle in Canada. EMCN Settlement Counsellors can assist you with:

  • Information /Orientation and Referral
  • Assistance with basic services (health care, housing, income support, food resources, transportation and referrals to Career Practioneers for employment and educational opportunities
  • Support on finding a suitable ESL class, career planning and schooling for children
  • Assistance/advocacy with government forms, programs and offices
  • Help with translation/interpretation needs in some languages
  • Supportive Counselling: helping newcomers identify options and develop and implement strategies for their adjustment to Canadian life
  • Immigration related information (Permanent Resident Cards, Canadian Citizenship Application, Citizenship Preparation Questionnaire, etc) and referrals
  • Commissioner of Oaths Services
